A denture is devices used to replace missing teeth and receive support from the underlying tissue and some of the remaining natural teeth which are used as supporting teeth. Disinfection of dentures can be carried out using non-traditional disinfectants such as chlorhexidine and traditional ones such as castor bean leaf extract (Ricinus communis). Disinfection of dentures can be carried out using non-traditional disinfectants such as chlorhexidine and traditional ones such as castor bean leaf extract (Ricinus communis). Jatropha leaves (Ricinus communis) contain chemical compounds that can work as anti-fungals in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans, such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins and terpenoids, as well as phenolics that can affect the mechanical properties of acrylic resin such as surface roughness and transverse strength. The aim of this study was to determine the value and effect of hot polymerized acrylic resin denture base after disinfection with 25% jatropha (Ricinus communis) leaf extract on water absorption and color stability for 1 and 2 year simulations. This research design is a laboratory experimental design with a post test only design with control group design. The results of the research were tested using the univariate test and T test. The results of the T test on water absorption showed that there was an effect of disinfection of 25% castor bean (Ricinus communis) leaf extract for the 1 year simulation with a value of p= 0.032 (p<0.05) and for the 2 simulation year with a value of p= 0.015 (p<0.05), and there is an influence on the color stability of a 1 year simulation with a value of p= 0.003 (p<0.05) and for a 2 year simulation with a value of p= 0.044 (p<0, 05). The results of this study indicate that the water absorption value and color stability of the hot polymerized acrylic resin denture base after disinfection with 25% 1 year and 2 year simulation of jatropha kepyar (Ricinus communis) leaf extract still has clinically acceptable water absorption values, namely 0.8 mg/cm2 and color stability is 2-3 based on ADA No.12, so that castor kepyar leaf extract can be used as an alternative for denture disinfection.en_US
