Factors Associated with Utilization of Posbinduptm Among Aged 45-59 Years in Saran Padang Simalungun Health Center Working Area in 2024
Abstract
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are one of the leading causes of increasing morbidity and mortality rates in Indonesia. The Integrated Development Post for Non-Communicable Diseases (Posbindu PTM) is a health program aimed at early detection and control of risk factors for non-communicable diseases through community participation. Based on a preliminary survey, the Posbindu PTM program has not been running effectively. On average, only 2% of the community participated, compared to the target of 100%. This low participation rate indicates a lack of public interest in utilizing Posbindu PTM services. This study aims to identify the factors associated with the utilization of Posbindu PTM at Working Area of the Saran Padang Public Health Center. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 92 respondents aged 45-59 years were selected using purposive sampling. The study results showed that 41 respondents (44.6%) utilized Posbindu PTM, while 51 respondents (55.4%) did not utilize Posbindu PTM in the Saran Padang Public Health Center’s working area. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test (α = 0.05). The study found significant relationships between knowledge (p-value < 0.001), attitude (p-value < 0.001), family support (p-value < 0.001), and support from community health workers (p-value < 0.001) with the utilization of Posbindu PTM. The conclusion of this study is that all variables studied are significantly associated with the utilization of Posbindu PTM among aged 45-59 years. Based on the findings, efforts are needed to improve the implementation of the Posbindu PTM program to make it more effective, including increasing public awareness about the importance of early detection of non-communicable disease risk factors, as well as enhancing family and community health worker support to encourage participation among aged 45-59 years group at working area of the Saran Padang Public Health Center.
