dc.description.abstract | Personal hygiene is the most important thing to pay attention to during menstruation which begins to occur since adolescence. Personal hygiene is very important to maintain the cleanliness and health of the female reproductive organs or vaginal area during menstruation to prevent infections, such as ISR (Reproductive Tract Infection), pruritus vulvae (itching in the vaginal area), vaginal discharge, urinary tract infections, cervical cancer and other reproductive health problems. Personal hygiene problems during menstruation, especially in remote areas such as Papua, can be complex and related to various social, cultural, economic, and infrastructure factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the personal hygiene behavior during menstruation of female students of SMP Negeri 1 Tigi. This research was conducted at SMPN Negeri 1 Tigi with a cross-sectional method. The sample in this study amounted to 105 female students who had menstruated with the total sampling method. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The univariate results of this study showed that the majority of respondents had poor knowledge and actions, but the attitudes of the majority of respondents were in the good category. From the bivariate results, it can be seen that there is a relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene actions during menstruation (p-value 0,0001) and there is no relationship between attitude and personal hygiene actions during menstruation (p-value 0,288). It is expected for schools and health workers around to work together to increase knowledge and provide education about good personal hygiene behavior during menstruation for female students, especially information related to things that should be avoided during menstruation to prevent infection because the knowledge and actions of female students related to personal hygiene during menstruation are still not good. | en_US |
