Perancangan Gedung Kolaborasi UMKM Square Universitas Sumatera Utara
Design of the UMKM Square Collaboration Building University of North Sumatra
Abstract
The design of the UMKM Square collaboration building at the University of North
Sumatra aims to create a space that supports the development of micro, small, and
medium enterprises (UMKM) through collaboration and innovation. The main
issues faced in this design include the need for multifunctional spaces capable of
accommodating various UMKM activities, limited available land, and the
integration of modern technology to support business activities. The methods used
in this design include literature studies, space needs analysis, and an architectural
design approach that prioritizes sustainability and functionality. Data were
collected through surveys of UMKM actors, interviews with experts, and case
studies of similar buildings at other institutions. The design process also involved
the participation of various stakeholders to ensure accurate needs assessment. The
design results show that this building consists of several main zones, such as coworking
spaces, training and workshop rooms, product exhibition areas, and other
supporting facilities such as cafes, discussion rooms, and meeting rooms. The
architectural design considers eco-friendly aspects by utilizing natural lighting,
efficient ventilation systems, and the use of sustainable building materials. The
conclusion of this design is that the UMKM Square collaboration building at the
University of North Sumatra can become an effective and efficient UMKM
development center. This building not only provides adequate and innovative
facilities but also supports local economic growth. Therefore, this building is
expected to become a model for the development of similar facilities at other
universities and to encourage collaboration between academics and UMKM actors.
