Toddlers nutrition problems that have been occurring in Indonesia are underweight, stunting and wasted, including in Deli Serdang District with prevalence of those three exceeding the national average. Nutritional problems can be caused by poor nutritional intake and poor family food security conditions associated with vulnerable family socio-economic conditions, such as informal sector workers. This study aims to determine the relationship of family food security and nutritional intake with nutritional status of toddlers in Deli Tua Village Deli Serdang District. The type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional design, uses a sample of 50 families who have toddlers aged 24-60 months and the main income comes from the informal sector. Nutritional status of toddlers was measured anthropometrically using weight and height data, nutritional intake of toddlers by calculating food recall, and food security using the HFSSM questionnaire. This study showed that 86 percent of families experienced food insecurity. Toddlers who experienced energy deficits were 50 percent, 54 percent carbohydrate deficits, 80 percent protein deficits, and 26 percent fat deficits. When viewed from their nutritional status, 28 percent of toddlers have underweight status, 30 percent of toddlers experiencing stunting, and 18 percent of toddlers suffer from wasting. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a relationship of energy intake with nutritional status of toddlers based on BB/U (p value = 0.036) and BB/TB (p value = 0.048). Relationship of carbohydrate intake with nutritional status of toddlers based on BB/U (p value = 0.003) and relationship of protein intake with nutritional status of toddlers based on TB/U (p value = 0.004) were also seen. Improving nutritional status of toddlers can be done with nutrition counseling by health workers at health centers, empowerment and fulfillment of the rights of informal sector workers to support more prosperous economic conditions.
