Analisis Upaya Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Hipertensi di Puskesmas Mandala Kecamatan Medan Tembung Tahun 2021

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as hypertension, are a significant global health issue, particularly in Indonesia. Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death and disability, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The prevalence of Hypertension in Indonesia continues to rise, as reflected in the 2018 Riskesdas report. Primary healthcare centers (Puskesmas) play a critical role in the prevention and control of hypertension through various promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative programs. This study aims to analyze the prevention and control efforts of Hypertension at Puskesmas Mandala, Medan Tembung Subdistrict, in 2021 using a descriptive qualitative research method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including healthcare workers and Posbindu cadres at the Puskesmas. The results indicate that the Covid-19 pandemic significantly affected the implementation of Hypertension prevention programs, particularly the Posbindu program, which could not function optimally. The main challenges faced were the limited availability of human resources and the shift in focus toward handling Covid-19. The study concludes by highlighting the importance of improving strategies in public health program implementation to enhance the coverage of hypertension prevention and control, including the optimization of Posbindu programs post-pandemic.
