dc.description.abstractHypertension is a non-communicable disease whose control has become part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) commitment that is expected to be achieved by 2030. Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure that is more or equal to 140/90 mmHg. According to WHO 2023, more than 30 percent of the adult population worldwide has hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in Southeast Asia alone reaches 25.1 percent. The Indonesian Ministry of Health 2018 states that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia has reached 34.1 percent. The number of people with hypertension in Deli Serdang Regency is 537,213 cases. Tanjung Morawa Health Center is the third highest with 33,694 cases of hypertension. This study aimed to determine the relationship of individual characteristics and physical activity with the incidence of hypertension in adulthood in the Tanjung Morawa Health Center Working Area in 2024. The type of research conducted was quantitative research with a cross sectional design. The sample of this study was 80 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Univariate data were analyzed descriptively, bivariate data were analyzed using the Chi Square test. The results of data processing showed that the proportion of hypertension at the age of 26-45 years in the Tanjung Morawa Health Center working area was 65 percent. Based on the Chi Square test, there is a significant relationship of gender (p=0.004) and physical activity (p=0.004) with the incidence of hypertension in the Tanjung Morawa Health Center Working Area, and there is no significant relationship of age (p=0.064), education (p=0.725) and work (p=0.264) with the incidence of hypertension in the Tanjung Morawa Health Center working area. For the Tanjung Morawa Health Center, it is hoped that it can provide counseling, education, to take preventive actions and conduct regular blood pressure checks.en_US
