dc.description.abstract | In the development and progress of a country, the city area becomes the center of all community activities. The more the city expands, the farther the distance
that must be traveled by residents to reach the city center, which is the center of all the city's economic activities, including the city's facilities and infrastructure needed.
The expansion of the city also causes increased mobility of the population in the city. For this reason, the increase in population mobility must be facilitated by the
provision of adequate infrastructure.
Medan City is one of the major cities in Indonesia which is the center of all economic activities in the surrounding area. Over time, the city of Medan experienced
an increase in population mobility and rapid growth, which resulted in the need for office facilities, transportation, education and economic centers in the city of Medan
must be met in line with the increasing population mobility. along with increasing population mobility, the population density of the city of Medan is also increasing and
causing reduced land availability and increased demand for housing.
To overcome the increase in mobility and population density, as well as the increase in housing needs in the city of Medan, the Mix use development model can
be a solution to these problems. Superblock is an area that combines residential centers (apartments, malls, rental offices, recreation) with green environmentally
sound development. The development of superblock-based areas is one of the many ways to develop efficient development because it can accommodate high density
with the concept of vertical buildings.
To achieve maximum comfort and enjoyment for visitors, users and staff, the theme of green architecture is used in the design, this superblock is related to the
issues that exist on the site. The methods used in research and design are case study, direct research, and strategic analysis. Research and design begins with the
determination of functional and spatial requirements, then the search for locations and problems that exist there, and finally the application of architectural principles
that can support certain concepts. | en_US |
