dc.description.abstractThis research is to know about the improvement of student’s listening ability on a weak form of functional word. To improve the student’s listening ability, the researcher uses songs as media. The research data are taken from the results of test in pre-test and post-test with cloze-test design. The results are written in a quantitative method. The theory used weak forms of common English functional words proposed by Roach. The population of this research is eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Pegajahan consisting of 171 students in the 2023/2024 academic year. XI 1 was selected as the sample using random cluster sampling. which consisted of 34 students. The results of this research show that there are improvements in students' listening skills by using English songs. It is shown in the pre-test only 44,1% of students who get points above 74 (good) and after doing the treatment, 97% of students who get points above 74 (good). The student score has improved significantly in the post-test. The treatment helps students improve their listening ability through English songs.en_US
