Multimodal Anlysis on Team RRQ and EVOS E-Sport’s Team Jersey

Abstract

The aims of the study are to identify the multimodal elements of Team RRQ and EVOS E-sports’s jersey and to describe the multimodal elements of Team RRQ and EVOS E-sports’s jersey that represent the meaning. This study use a theory from Kress & Van Leeuwen (2006) and employs research methodology of qualitative with the data of the study are Team RRQ and Evos E-sprot’s jersey that conveyed through metafunctions in E-sports Team Jersey of Team RRQ and Evos E-sport multimodal discourses. The research founds that the visual elements of the Team RRQ and Evos E-sport jersey contain representational and compositional meaning. The representational meaning on Team RRQ and Evos E-sport jersey is all of the elements that contained on the jersey from each team, represent the identity of the team either it home or away jersey. Then, compositional meaning on Team RRQ and Evos E-sport jersey are the colors combination, the placement of each team’s logo, specific pattern that consists on each jersey, special element that differentiates the jersey from the other jersey, and also the placement of all sponsorship’s logo.All of these elements are connected between one to each other to make a whole structure of the jersey. Furthermore, multimodal features on E-sports team jerseys play a crucial role in communicating a team's identity, values, and competitive spirit to a global audience.
