This thesis is entitled “PERTINA (PERSATUAN TINJU AMATIR INDONESIA) CITY OF PEMATANGSIANTAR (1969-2010)”. This research aims to find out the history of amateur boxing in Pematangsiantar City and become famous with the nickname “TINJU CITY”. In this study, methods are used as a reference in historical writing, namely Heuristics, Source Criticism, Interpretation, and Historiography. The data used in this research are sourced from interviews, and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that PERTINA was founded by Abdullah Saragih on October 30, 1969, the establishment of PERTINA was the result of the support of members and boxing athletes of Pematangsiantar City who previously had their own boxing club located in Gang Tinju CokroAminoto street Pematangsiantar City. PERTINA is an organization that has successfully become a place for athletes to hone their skills to participate in many championships and win many regional and national championships in 1970-1990. Some national achievements that are immortalized are the 1982 Semarang Amateur Boxing Championship, the 5th President's Cup International Amateur Boxing Tournament Jakarta 1882, the 1981 Medan Open Boxing Tournament, the 1982 Asahan National Amateur Boxing Tournament, the 1983 North Sumatra Senior Amateur Boxing Championship, the 1980 Medan Golden Gloves Championship. PERTINA experienced a vacuum in 2010 this was marked by the absence of strong interest in boxing so that PERTINA no longer participated in the championship, PERTINA's vacuum was also influenced by the lack of support, facilities, finance, and the absence of health insurance for all athletes and coaches.
