dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to analyze the economic level of Karo Regency in the constellation of district areas in the North Sumatra Highlands Region and in North Sumatra Province, to analyze the level of development of the agricultural sector in Karo Regency, to analyze the shift in the agricultural sector of Karo Regency, to analyze the base sector and superior agricultural commodities of Karo Regency and to analyze the relationship between the number of production of superior agricultural commodities and contribution of the agricultural sector to the economy of Karo Regency The research methods used are classsen typology analysis methods, shift shares, Location Quotient (LQ), Dinamyc Location Quotient (DLQ) and the Spearman Rank Correlation method. The results of the study show that at the economic level of Karo Regency in the constellation of the highlands of North Sumatra and in North Sumatra Province is in an advanced but depressed position and the level of development of the agricultural sector in the economy of Karo Regency is in an advanced but depressed position. There was a shift in the agricultural sector before the covid-19 pandemic that had a positive value and during the covid-19 pandemic there was a shift with a negative value and after the covid-19 pandemic there was a shift with a positive value. The leading agricultural commodities of Karo Regency in food crops are corn, in horticulture crops are potatoes, in plantation crops are coconuts and cocoa, in livestock commodities are pigs and free-range chickens and in forestry commodities are sap rubber. The relationship between the contribution of the agricultural sector and the production of superior food crops is relatively strong, with superior horticultural crops, superior plantation crops and superior forestry commodities being relatively strong and with superior livestock commodities being classified as very weak.en_US
