Saweran in cafe music performances represents visitors' appreciation for musical groups while also reflecting social interaction, social stratification, and the motivations influencing these groups. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of saweran in cafes in Medan from the perspectives of musicians and visitors. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, using theories of symbolic interaction, social stratification, and motivation. This research found that the aesthetic layout attracts people to visit the cafe, and these visits will be repeated. Likewise, the symbolic interactions created by musikians and visitors include the stages of paying attention to the musik, singing in place, singing together with the musikian, and giving sawer. This symbolic interaction can be built with musikal games that fulfill these stages. Visitors will build a cultural identity during their visit to the cafe, and then present the cultural values of joy and pleasure as well as the culture of hedonism. Sawer is an indicator of the masculinity and social stratification of visitors. Social intensity and magnitude show the social stratification of visitors. Sawer is important for visitors and musikians in fulfilling their hierarchy of needs so that it becomes synonymous with motivation. For visitors, sawer can fulfill their needs for social recognition and appreciation; For musikians, it can be a motivation to always improve their abilities and quality of the musik and songs they play.
