This research departs from the occurrence of money politics in the 2024 elections in several regions of Indonesia with the issuance of a verdict on the criminal act of money politics by the court. This attracts the author's interest to examine the election process in Samosir Regency, especially with the issues and reports of money politics in the 2020 Samosir Regional Head Elections, but there was no decision on the occurrence of money politics by Samosir District Election Supervisory Agency as the institution responsible for the supervision process of the Samosir Regency regional elections. This study aims to analyze Samosir District Election Supervisory Agency efforts to prevent the practice of money politics, especially the 2024 Legislative Elections. The research method used by the author is a qualitative research method. Data were obtained from primary data sources through direct interviews with relevant parties.
The results showed that Samosir District Election Supervisory Agency made efforts to prevent money politics in the elections through the Participatory Supervision program. Participatory Supervision invites the community and all related parties to jointly actively participate in supervising the election process and providing an understanding of the implementation of elections and prohibitions such as money politics. Analysis of the implementation of the efforts made by Samosir District Election Supervisory Agency found that there were still shortcomings, especially in the mechanism for implementing efforts made at the stages of the Election process. The Supervision Process in practice has problems that occur and are interrelated where these factors are interconnected with each other in the process of organizing the 2024 Samosir Election.
