dc.description.abstractThe transfer capability limitation of a system is influenced by several factors, namely the thermal limitation of the transmission line, the system voltage limitation according to the grid code, system stability, and others. When the load from an area increases, the power transfer that occurs also increases. However, as the load increases, the voltage drop that occurs at the load causes the voltage that reaches the load to not match the nominal voltage. In addition, the power transmitted through the conductor will also increase so that the loading on the line will increase as well. Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices such as the Static VAR System (SVS) can overcome voltage drop problems by supplying reactive power to the system continuously so that the transfer capability of a system can increase. This research focuses on increasing the transfer capability of the transmission system between the Aceh subsystem and the North Sumatra subsystem using SVS. In this research, P-V and Q-V curves were used to determine the appropriate location for the addition of SVS and power flow analysis to determine the capacity of the SVS. The results showed an increase in the optimal transfer capability from the North Sumatra subsystem to the Aceh subsystem from 230.2 MW to 273.4 MW. The increase in optimal transfer capability from the Aceh subsystem to the North Sumatra subsystem also increased from 79.2 MW to 294.2 MW.en_US
