dc.description.abstractInsulators based on epoxy resin are an innovation that is currently widely used in the development of insulating materials. Epoxy resin insulators still have a weakness, namely the tendency to break or crack. To improve the quality of the insulator, filler material is added to the epoxy resin insulator to increase reliability and at the same time reduce the cost of making the insulator. This research discusses the electrical strength of insulators, namely resistivity and dielectric strength and also mechanical strength, namely compressive strength from the addition of filler materials such as silicone rubber, fly as nanoparticles, MgO and TiO2 on 10 test samples with a certain composition. The composition of the resin used is 30% epoxy resin A and 30% epoxy resin B and mixed with 40% filler. The results show that the best mixture composition to increase the resistivity value is found in sample code S9 with a composition of epoxy resin A 30%, epoxy resin B 30%, silicone rubber 10%, fly ash nanoparticles 20% and TiO2 10%, measuring 74.960 GΩ for surface resistivity, and 0.419 for volume resistivity. The highest dielectric strength results were found in sample code S9 with a composition of 30% epoxy resin A, 30% epoxy resin B, silicone rubber 10%, fly ash nanoparticles 20% and TiO2 10%, measuring 117.66 kV/cm. The highest compressive strength results were found in sample S4 with a composition of 30% epoxy resin A, 30% epoxy resin B, silicone rubber 10%, fly ash nanoparticles 10% and MgO 20%, which is 41.6 MPa.en_US
