The increase in human population is directly proportional to daily needs, which results in an increase in waste. The use of daily goods does not escape the use of goods derived from conventional plastics which take hundreds of years to be degraded by nature. Therefore, handling is needed so that the use of conventional plastics can be reduced which can be replaced with bioplastics, plastics that can be easily degraded by nature. This study aims to determine the characteristics of bioplastics from palm trunk waste starch which includes tensile strength test and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) test and to determine the effect of cellulose addition from palm trunk waste on bioplastics. This bioplastic manufacture uses the ratio of starch; glycerol; cellulose. Where the cellulose used is 2 types, palm trunk powder cellulose and starch pulp cellulose. The variation of palm trunk powder cellulose is (0; 1; 1.5; 2; 2.5) grams. The best bioplastic from the variation of palm trunk powder cellulose based on the tensile strength test obtained the highest result, namely 1 gram cellulose with a tensile strength of 1.22 MPa. The best cellulose variation from palm stem powder cellulose-based bioplastics is made from starch pulp cellulose-based bioplastics with a tensile strength test result of 1.58 MPa. The results of the FTIR test of the two types of bioplastics, namely starch pulp cellulose-based bioplastics and non-cellulose bioplastics, have the same functional groups, namely O-H, C-H, C=O, C-O.en_US
