    Abstract
This research aims to understand the Legal Aspects of the Development of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in Indonesia. The issues addressed in the thesis titled Legal Aspects of the Develpoment of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in indonesia include how the legal regulation of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in Indonesia structured, the position of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) from perspective of property law in Indonesia, and the differences between Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and cryptocurrency. The research method used is a type of normative legal research method. The nature of the research in this study is descriptive. The approach is based on a legal approach and a conceptual approach. The data collection technique is through library research by systematically analyzing and studying, supported by primary, secondary, and tertiary source materials, and using data analysis with a qualitative approach. The results of this research indicate that CBDC is a digital currency issued and its circulation controlled by the central bank, and used as a legitimate means of payment to replace physical cash. In Indonesia, the implementation of CBDC is represented by the issuance of Digital Rupiah as regulated in Article 10 of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector. The implementation of CBDC in Indonesia is deemed urgent as a response to technological disruption and the emergence of various new financial sectors that are considered to have high risks. CBDC also holds the position of an object that can be attached with property rights, can be classified as a movable and intangible object, and has economic value as money generally functions.
