dc.description.abstract | This research is motivated by the application of the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework with a focus on the lexicogrammatical, social context, and the metafunctional meaning contained in the text of the Malay dance drama "Mak Yong". This research uses the SFL theory pioneered by Halliday. The method in this research is qualitative. The data in this research is in the form of written text in the form of clauses from three story titles in the Mak Yong dance drama as told by the actors or characters who play roles in the dance drama "Mak Yong". The results of this research show that (1) the lexicogrammatical elements contained in the Malay dance drama text Mak Yong. The frequency of occurrence of the lexicogrammatical unit structure in the Malay dance drama Mak Yong consists of Adverbs 64 times (19.81%), Verbs 99 times (30.65%), Nouns 99 times (30.65%), Vocatives 5 times (1.54%), Conjunctions 22 times (6.81%), Auxiliary Verbs 13 times (4.02%), Adjectives 21 times (6.50%), and Nouns 99 times (30.65%). The existence of each element clarifies the function of each word contained in each clause which is used as an analysis clause. (2) The social context in this research clarifies each role of the characters in each story contained in the Malay dance drama Mak Yong, apart from that the plot and meaning of each story really helps the audience to understand the message more easily. the characters want to convey. (3) The realization of lexicogrammatical and metafunctional meaning in this research is that there is a connection between the function and meaning of each word formed in each clause so that the meaning to be conveyed is easier for the audience to understand and is not boring because the plot in each story is structured in a very neat. It is very clear in this research the orientation and targets of each story acted out by the characters in the Malay dance drama Mak Yong. | en_US |
