Pest Control in the Design of a Rice Plant Monitoring System for Aquaponics Based on the Internet of Things Using the MQTT Protocol
Abstract
This research develops a pest control system for rice plants cultivated with the aquaponic method based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the MQTT protocol. This system is designed to monitor plant conditions in real-time and provide automatic responses in pest control to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in agriculture. The MQTT protocol is used as an efficient communication medium between sensors, actuators, and a cloud-based control platform. The monitoring system involves various sensors to measure environmental parameters such as humidity, temperature, and pest presence. The collected data is continuously sent to the server via the MQTT protocol, which is then analyzed and processed to take necessary control actions, such as activating an automatic buzzer as a pest repellent. Testing results show that this system can detect the presence of pests with high accuracy and quickly respond to pest threats, thereby reducing crop damage and increasing productivity. The implementation of this system also shows that the use of IoT technology and the MQTT protocol in aquaponic agriculture can enhance land management efficiency and resource optimization.
