This research provides an alternative liquid insulating material made from vegetable oil. Vegetable oils are more easily biodegradable, making them more environmentally friendly. In this research, corn oil was chosen as an alternative to replace mineral oil which has been converted into methyl ester first. Corn oil methyl ester mixed with mineral oil, added phenol and BHT additives, then tested for insulating properties. The results of the research show that the dielectric strength, resistivity and viscosity values of corn oil methyl ester oil are lower than Shell Diala B oil. Samples with the addition of phenol and BHT additives can increase the dielectric strength, density and viscosity for the better but reduce the resistivity value of the oil. In terms of dielectric strength, the addition of Phenol is better than the addition of BHT to oil. The percentage composition of a mixture of methyl esters of corn oil and mineral oil with the addition of phenol and BHT has the best density value, namely S8 with a value of 0.729 g/cm³, an increase of 0.01% from S2 with a value of 0.720 g/cm³ which meets ASTM standard No. D 1298. The best viscosity is S3 with a value of 3.70 cSt, a decrease of 16.8% from S2 with a value of 4.45 cSt which already meets ASTM standard No. D 445. For the best resistivity value, S3 has values of 0.24 GΩm and 0.0993 GΩm with a reduction of 85% from S2 at 20℃ with a value of 0.85 GΩm. At a temperature of 90℃ with a reduction of 95% according to IEC-60422-2013 standard which is included in group B, C. The best dielectric strength of S8 with a value of 27.3 kV/2.5 mm meets ASTM standard No. D 877.en_US
