Studi Eksperimental Perfomansi Kampas Rem Berbahan Serbuk Tempurung Kelapa dan Serbuk Alumunium sebagai Bahan Alternatif pada Rem Sepeda Motor
Experimental Study on the Performance of Brake Pads Made from Coconut Shell Powder and Aluminum Powder as an Alternative Material for Motorcycle Brakes
Abstract
The brake system in a motorbike is a very important system because it is related to driving safety factors. The aim of this research is to analyze the performance of coconut shell powder composite brake linings and compare it with Federal brake linings. There are several stages and steps that must be taken so that the research can be carried out properly and correctly. Steps for testing distance and time using a Vixion motorbike: test with the driver load (80 kg) and pillion load (70 kg), turn on the motorbike and stopwatch, then start on a straight road long before the specified braking point, run the motorbike using predetermined speed, after the motorbike speed is stable, braking is carried out at the specified point, pressed when the brake pedal is pressed, the brake pedal pressure is applied with variations of 0N, 7.5N, 15N, 22.5N, 30N and speeds of 20,30,40,50,60km/h for 3 tests. The results of this research are that the highest disc heat with a brake pedal pressing force of 30 N is produced by composition A brake linings of 24 °C, good braking distance is found in composition A with a distance of 16.20 m, good braking time is found in composition C with a distance of 16.20 m. 2.19 S, a good coefficient of friction has the composition C and Federal because it has a high friction force value, namely 0.6364 and 0.812 so that the braking distance is lower.
