The Final Project design proposal for a retirement home in Polonia aims to transform the former runway and airport into a new urban center. The project incorporates tropical architecture principles, aiming to harmonize the natural environment with sustainable and inclusive design practices. The design approach integrates Polonia's rich cultural and ecological context, fostering community and well-being for elderly residents. The use of vernacular materials and indigenous building techniques is explored to blend into the tropical landscape while minimizing environmental impact. Sustainability is a cornerstone of the project, incorporating features like rainwater harvesting, solar energy systems, and passive cooling strategies to reduce the ecological footprint. The design also envisions lush green spaces and community gardens, promoting biodiversity and creating a therapeutic environment for retirees. lnclusivity is prioritized in the architectural layout, ensuring accessibility for individuals with diverse mobility needs, particularly t11e elderly. Thoughtful interior design elements accommodate the diverse needs of elderly residents, fostering independence and dignity. Strategically positioned communal spaces encourage social interaction and engagement, contributing to the overall well-being of retirees. This retirement home serves as a model for sustainable urban development in Polonia's broader transformation i11to a vibrant city center.en_US
