Analysis of Noise Levels in the Waiting Room to Improve the Comfort of Passanger at Medan Railway Station
Abstract
Noise is unwanted sound from production or work equipment that can cause
hearing loss. At Medan Railway Station, noise comes from train activities, including
locomotives, the screeching of train tracks with wheels, and the locomotive flutes.
This affects workers in the station area and passengers waiting in the departure
lounge. Because there is no barrier between the waiting room and the platform,
passengers are directly exposed to noise from train activities. This research aims to
analyze the noise condition at Medan railway station and to conduct noise mapping
at Medan railway station. This research uses a quantitative approach to analyze the
noise obtained from the 4 in 1 environment as a measurement tool and analyzed
using the Equivalent Continuous Noise Level (Leq) method at Medan train station.
Efforts to reduce noise in the waiting room with the addition of facilities in the form
of noise barriers in the waiting room of the train station and the use of personal
protective equipment for workers in the waiting room area of Medan train station.
