dc.description.abstractIndonesia is a country prone to earthquakes, especially the island of Sumatra. One of the concrete steps to avoid earthquake damage is to strengthening of the building structure with earthquake-reducing elements such as base isolators. The structural response to earthquakes will be different when applied to regular and irregular buildings with joint or roller bearings based on isolators. The mechanism of action of the isolator can increase the natural period of the structure, besides that the base isolator is also able to reduce the interdrift story which is the biggest cause of building structure failure. In response to these problems, this final project is made to determine the structural response due to earthquakes in buildings using lead rubber bearing type base isolators. This research shows that the structure with isolators is able to increase the period of the structure to 3.8547 s from the initial period of the structure of 1.1248s, which is three times, besides that the structure with isolators is able to reduce Interstory drift up to 76,17% (x direction) and 51,38% (y direction).en_US
