Research has been conducted on the effect of adding natural Pahae zeolite and tea
leaves as fillers on the characteristics of polymer concrete and polyester resin as
adhesives. The sample preparation began with zeolite being sieved using a 74 μm
sieve, washed three times with distilled water, and dried at a temperature of 150°C
for 2 hours. XRF characterization to determine the elemental and compound content
in zeolite. Tea leaves were dried at 60°C for 2 hours and sieved using a 149 μm
sieve. Sand was sieved with a 149 μm sieve. The composition used: sand, zeolite, tea
waste with variations of polyester resin 15 g, 20 g, and 25 g. The mixed materials
were molded using a hot press at a temperature of 170°C for 30 minutes. After
printing, characterization of physical, mechanical, as well as morphology and
elemental properties was conducted using SEM-EDX. The research results indicate
that polymer concrete with the addition of tea waste and Pahae natural zeolite filler
can improve the physical properties of polymer concrete. The addition of polyester
resin in polymer concrete results in decreased mechanical properties. The
morphological analysis results on SEM-EDX of polymer concrete show the
distribution of Si and Al from zeolite is almost evenly spread across the entire
surface of the polymer concrete.
