Nursing Home in Medan City Using A Healing Environment Approach
Abstract
Elderly people in Indonesia, defined as those aged 60 years
and above, experience a decline in physical and psychological
functioning. Life expectancy is increasing due to improved
health and socioeconomic conditions. However, facilities in
North Sumatra for the elderly who are active are still limited.
Law Number 13 of 1998 aims to empower the elderly and
create an environment that supports productive life. Medan,
with a significant elderly population, seeks to make it an
Elderly-Friendly City by 2030. Nursing homes in Medan face
negative perceptions and inadequate facilities.
Comprehensive facilities, including residences, green open
spaces, health clinics, and skills development spaces, are
needed to drive recovery and adaptation.
