This study analyzes the gender perspective in politics through a case study of Cory Sebayang in the 2024 regional election (Pilkada) in Karo Regency. The primary focus si on public perceptions of female leadership and the factors
influencing Cory Sebayang's candidacy under the Gerindra Party. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through in-depth interviews and document analysis. Informants were selected using purposive
sampling, involving political figures, traditional leaders, millennial voters, and traders. Data analysis follows a process of data reduction, data presentation, and
conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that despite Cory Sebayang's experience as Regent, several key factors influenced the election outcome, including internal political challenges, lack of party support, her leadership performance, and societal gender perceptions in Karo. The study concludes that gender remains a significant issue in local politics, affecting women's chances in regional head elections.
