Analisis Karakteristik Mikrostruktur dan Sifat Mekanik pada Connecting Rod Honda Revo Hasil Pengecoran Logam Berbahan Al-Cu-Mg dengan Variasi Pasir Pengikat Fly Ash – Bentonit dalam Proses Sand Casting
Analysis of Microstructural Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of Honda Revo Connecting Rod Results from Metal Casting Made of Al-Cu–Mg with Variations of Fly Ash–Bentonite Binding Sand in The Sandcasting Process
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of the Honda Revo connecting rod resulting from metal casting made from Al-Cu-Mg with variations of fly ash and bentonite sand binders using the sand casting method. The variations of fly ash and bentonite used are 3%:6%, 6%:3%, and 7%:2%. This research examines the effect of material variations on the mechanical strength, microstructure and surface quality of castings. The tests carried out include tensile, impact, 3-point bending, Brinell hardness tests, and microstructural analysis. The research results show that the combination of fly ash and bentonite affects the mechanical properties and structure of the material, with optimal results at certain proportions. This research contributes to the development of materials for automotive components that are lighter and corrosion resistant.
