Analisis Makna Kotowaza yang Berkaitan dengan Budaya Jepang Bagi Pembelajar Bahasa Jepang melalui Konten Yakunitatsu Nihon No Kotowaza
Analysis of the Meaning of Kotowaza Related to Japanese Language Learners through the “ Yakunitatsu Nihon No Kotowaza” Content
Abstract
This thesis discusses the meaning of kotowaza (Japanese proverbs) related to
Japanese culture for learners of the Japanese language through the video
content Yakunitatsu Nihon no Kotowaza . The aim of this research is to describe
the meanings and uses of Japanese kotowaza as featured in the video content. The
theoretical framework includes the theory of meaning proposed by Yoshimoto and
Nakamura (2016), and the theory of pragmatics introduced by Yule (1996). This
research uses a qualitative descriptive method and is conducted from a semantic
perspective. The data were obtained through several stages: watching the videos,
reading the transcripts, noting key elements, reducing the data, and formulating
conclusions based on the analysis. Among the 11 kotowaza analyzed, some are
used as satire, others express respect or politeness, contain hope, relate to comfort
and safety in life, or are associated with environmental influence,2 pretension,
encouragement, and competition.
