dc.description.abstractThe grounding system can be considered good if it has a very low grounding resistance value, allowing fault currents to flow quickly into the ground in case of electrical system disturbances. To improve high grounding resistance values, soil treatment can be performed by adding a mixture of materials in the grounding pit where the electrodes are installed. One factor that affects grounding resistance is the depth of the electrodes. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of utilizing gypsum powder and coal waste (fly ash) in soil with variations in electrode depth. Grounding resistance measurements were conducted using a single rod electrode grounding system with the three-point method and measured using the Kyoritsu 4105A Digital Earth Tester. The mixture of gypsum powder, fly ash, and native soil was prepared according to the weight percentages of each component with variations in electrode depths of 75 cm, 100 cm, and 125 cm. The most significant reduction in resistance value obtained in this study was with a composition of 50% gypsum powder and 50% fly ash at an electrode depth of 125 cm. The highest percentage of reduction in grounding resistance was 93.58%, with the initial native soil grounding resistance of 15.91 Ω decreasing to 1.02 Ω after the addition of the mixture.en_US
