    Abstract
This research aims to elaborate the findings on fantasy themes by viewing fantasy themes delivered both on air and off air on community radio in Deli Serdang; the use of fantasy themes so that they can build solidarity among members; the use of fantasy themes on community radio in raising awareness of its members to participate: potential challenges of the use of fantasy themes as a method to build community awareness; and the use of fantasy themes model on community radio in Deli Serdang. Theories and concepts used in this research include: Symbolic Convergence Theory, Organizational Culture Theory, Relational Dialectic Theory, community radio concept, community radio management, community radio and development, community radio and culture, solidarity and awareness. The paradigm used is constructivist and the data are collected through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and observations. The total number of research informants is 15 people with 2 triangulators. There are 6 fantasy themes used by Mitra FM and RKD FM, namely: symbols and rituals, participatory, self- development, nostalgia, collaborative, and communal. These six fantasy themes are used on air, off air, and online. Symbols, narratives, and rituals are used to build solidarity among community members. Historical narratives of the establishment of the radio and cultural broadcasts are used to raise awareness of radio members to participate. The challenges in implementing fantasy themes in this community radio are: limited funds, minimal involvement of the young people, digital technology disruption, and busy activities of community members. Strategies that are applicable to overcome these challenges are through collaboration with the government and sponsors to obtain public service advertisements, involving the youth through program innovation, utilizing streaming platforms and social media, and adjusting meeting schedules.
