    Abstract
This study analyzes the phenomenon of code-mixing in the lyrics of the song Lights by BTS, which uses Japanese with the insertion of English words. This code-mixing is part of a sociolinguistic phenomenon that reflects the global appeal of K-Pop music in the era of globalization. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of code-mixing that appear in the lyrics and to identify the factors that cause them. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. Research data in the form of song lyrics sourced from the album Map of the Soul: 7 - The Journey, supported by secondary data related to BTS and the context of K-Pop. Data collection was carried out using the method of listening and noting, while descriptive analysis techniques were used to classify and explain the phenomenon in detail. The results revealed that in the song lyrics there are 9 forms of code mix, consisting of 1 word element, 7 phrase elements, and 1 clause element. The dominant form of code mixing is the insertion of phrase elements, namely the repetition of the phrase “You and I”. Factors causing code-mixing include role identification, the desire to explain and interpret a concept, there is no appropriate term or expression in the language used, and there is a politeness or informal situation in language use. This research is expected to enrich the understanding of the use of code mixing in modern pop music and provide insight for fans and academics related to linguistic phenomena in global artworks.
