    Abstract
    This research aims to see how the local color of Belitong Malay in the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata by describing the cultural elements in it. Local color is a pattern or characteristic that shows the locality of a region. This research uses a literary anthropology approach with the theory of cultural elements by Koentjaraningrat and supported by the theories of Sugeng Pujileksono and Mansoer Pateda. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method, which is by voicing, describing, and analyzing the cultural elements contained in the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata. The data analysis technique in this research is carried out in three steps, namely data collection, data reduction, data analysis, and data presentation in narrative form. The results of this study found that the local color of Belitong Malay in the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata can be seen from the cultural elements in it. The cultural elements are as follows: (1) Language system seen from dialect and speech; (2) Social Organization System seen from kinship groups, and social layers; (3) Knowledge System seen from knowledge about nature, flora, fauna, and human nature and behavior; (4) Living Equipment and Technology System seen from the use of production tools, containers, clothing, food, shelter/housing, and transportation tools; (5) Livelihood System seen from livelihoods in the mining industry, service/skill industry, plantations, and fishermen; (6) Religious System seen from religious emotions, belief systems, religious rites and ceremonies systems, and religious ceremonial equipment; and (7) Arts System seen from sound art, movement/dance art, literary art, and drama art.
