    Abstract
    This research discusses directive illocutionary speech act in the animated film عمر بن عبد العزيز/‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Azīz/. The problem in this recearch is the types and functions of directive illocutionary speech acts contained in the animated film عمر بن عبد العزيز/‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Azīz/. This research aims to identify and classify the types and functions of directive illocutionary speech acts contained in the animated film عمر بن عبد العزيز/‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Azīz/. The theory used in this study is the theory of directive illocutionary speech acts proposed by Bach and Harnish. This research is a qualitative study and the data collected using the documentation method which is realized by the tapping technique and the advanced technique of free listening to conversation (SBLC). The results of the study indicate that the types of directive illocutionary speech acts found in the animated film عمر بن عبد العزيز/‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Azīz/ consist of 6, namely requests, questions, requirements, prohibitions, permissives, and advisories. The results of the study on the function of directive illocutionary speech acts in the animated film عمر بن عبد العزيز/‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Azīz/ found were requesting, begging, pray for, asking, ordering, prohibiting, allowing, releasing, letting, advising. The conclusion of this study is that in interpreting speech acts, it is not only based on grammatical meaning, but it is also necessary to pay attention to the context of the speech, because an utterance can have various functions that are in accordance with its context.
