    Abstract
Introduction: Chronic suppurative otitis media is a chronic inflammation of the middle ear and mastoid cavity with a typical picture of chronic or persistent otorrhea accompanied by perforation of the tympanic membrane. Acquired hearing loss is also a characteristic feature found in patients with this condition and if left untreated, can lead to further morbidity and mortality.ChronicOtitis Media Questionnaire(COMQ-12) is a specific tool to assess the quality of life of individuals diagnosed with OMSK. The COMQ 12 test can be used in clinical research as well as research on health-related quality of life in patients diagnosed with OMSK. Objective: This study aims to determine how the hearing function and quality of life of OMSK patients who underwent surgery and how the relationship between changes in hearing function and quality of life of patients. Methods: This study used an observational analytical study design with an ambispective cohort approach conducted on OMSK patients at the ENT outpatient clinic of Adam Malik Hospital and Murni Teguh Hospital Medan who had undergone surgery. Results: There was a significant improvement in hearing function (p <0.001) and a significant improvement in quality of life (p <0.001) in all patients after surgery. A significant relationship (p = 0.010) was found between the delta hearing threshold value and the delta quality of life score, which can be interpreted that the improvement in hearing function of patients has an impact on improving quality of life. Conclusion: There was an increase in hearing function and quality of life which were significant in all patients after surgery. A significant relationship was also found between the improvement in hearing function and changes in quality of life in all patients after surgery. Keywords: CSOM; Pure Tone Audiometry; COMQ-12
