    Abstract
Water plays an important role in maintaining health and smooth metabolism, but its consumption habits among students are not always optimal. This study revealed that although FISIP USU student informants are aware of the benefits of water to prevent dehydration and health problems, they have very diverse drinking habits. In addition, this study also revealed that the habit of drinking water of FISIP USU student informants has been formed through parental teachings since they were little. As they grow older, FISIP USU student informants increasingly recognize the benefits of drinking water. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources were obtained from primary data generated through observation, in-depth interviews, and secondary data through literature studies and documentation. The theory used in this study is the behaviorism learning theory by B.F. Skinner. The results of this study answer three main questions, namely: a) drinking water consumption habits, which show that some FISIP USU student informants consume or drink water in a structured manner and consider it as part of a healthy life, while others only drink when they feel thirsty or depending on certain situations; b) the perception of FISIP USU student informants towards drinking water, where perception comes after a habit that has been formed since childhood and after perception is present, most FISIP USU student informants consider that drinking water has many benefits and an important role in maintaining body health even though there are differences in understanding among FISIP USU student informants; and c) factors that influence drinking water consumption habits, where it was found such as health awareness, personal experience, and social environment, namely family that influences the drinking water consumption habits of FISIP USU student informants. Overall, this study shows that the drinking water consumption habits of FISIP USU student informants are still diverse. This habit is formed since childhood. In adulthood, FISIP USU student informants consume water no longer because of teachings from their parents, but because of an understanding of water and its benefits, although there are still students who already know the benefits, but consume water only because they are thirsty.
