Analysis of Factors Affecting the Value Added of the Industrial Sector in Indonesia
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of gross capital formation, household consumption expenditure, labor, and trade openness on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia with an observation period of 1984-2023. This research uses a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from the World Bank. The data is then processed using Eviews 12 software and analyzed using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). The results show that in the long run long term, gross capital formation has a negative and significant effect, household consumption expenditure has a positive and significant effect, labor force has a positive and insignificant effect, and trade openness has a positive and insignificant effect on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia. While in the short term, gross capital formation in the current year has a negative and significant effect, and in the previous 1 year has a positive and significant effect on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia. Household consumption expenditure in the current year has a positive and significant. But in the previous 1, 2, and 3 years have a negative and significant effect on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia. Labor force has no influence on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia in the short term. Trade openness in the current year has a positive and significant effect. However, one year earlier has a negative and insignificant effect, and 2 years earlier has a negative and significant effect on the value added of the industrial sector in Indonesia.
