Folklore is a story that is spread orally from generation to generation, so that it is known by the wider community. This also applies to the story of Nai Marbintang, which comes from Baringin Village, Sipirok District, South Tapanuli Regency. The formulation of the problem in this study is how are the cultural values of the Batak Angkola Sipirok in the legend of Nai Marbintang, and how is the public's perception of this legend. The purpose of this study is to describe cultural values in human relations with society, and to understand public perception of this legend. This study uses a qualitative method. The results of this study aim to describe the cultural values of the Batak Angkola Sipirok in the legend of Nai Marbintang, (1) tolerance, (2) love for the homeland, (3) love for peace, (4) solidarity, (5) mutual cooperation, (6) family, (7) democracy, (8) social care. The results of the study regarding public perception of the legend of Nai Marbintang, that 48.4% of the public has a perception in the moderate or sufficient category. In addition, local cultural values of the Sipirok community were also found, (1) Dalihan Na Tolu (kinship system), (2) Harmony Values, (3) Marsialapari Values (mutual cooperation), (4) Maradat Values (maintaining customs), (5) Santabi Values (Politeness), (6) Poda Na Lima Values (Five guidelines for life).
