Horticulture is a branch of agricultural science that includes the cultivation of ornamental plants, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants that have economic or consumption value. Horticulture involves various techniques, technologies, and agronomic practices to achieve the goal of optimizing harvest yields and increasing productivity. Production greatly affects farmers' income, so farmers must be wiser in choosing which planting pattern is more suitable and profitable for farmers so that by choosing the right planting pattern, farmers can meet their daily needs. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in income from three planting patterns used, namely the chili monoculture planting pattern, the chili-corn intercropping pattern and the chili-tomato intercropping pattern. This study was conducted in Purbatua Baru Village, Silimakuta District, Simalungun Regency using the purposive sampling method. Samples were taken as many as 60 respondents consisting of 15 chili-corn intercropping farmers, 15 chili-tomato intercropping farmers and 30 farmers who used the monoculture planting pattern. Data collection was conducted using an open-ended questionnaire. The data analysis method used was the Kruskal-Wallis analysis method. From the results of the study, it was found that farmers with the most profitable cropping pattern were farmers with chili tomato intercropping patterns because the highest average income was in the chili tomato intercropping pattern of Rp 222,350,133, while the average income of farmers with chili corn intercropping patterns was Rp 165,742,100 and the average income of farmers with chili monoculture planting patterns was Rp 170,348,550.en_US
