dc.description.abstractSiofabanua village is one of the vilages on Nias island, Tuhemberua District, North Nias Regency. Siofabanua village is a village rich in culture and customs, which are an important part of the identity of the local community. The unique culural wealth and customs have made women a pillar in society. Nias women in the Maena Dance. Preserving the Maena Dance cultural, not only maintains cultural identity but also improves womwn’s welfere. This study aims to determine how Nias women preserve the maena Dance cultural in Siofabanua Village. The Maena Dance is part of the traditional Nias culture that is danced together. Maena is a development of community traditions in the past, which untul now has been preseved as Nias culture. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with interview, observasion and documentation techniques to collect data. The results of the study indicate that womwn in preserving and maintaining the culture of Maena Dance in Siofabanua Village by referring to the Hawkins approach, which includes knowledge, art, morals and customs. Women in preserving the culture of Maena Dance teach the younger generation to preserve it and hold festivals with promotional media to be displayed and known more widely bt all of Indonesia. This study recommends that Nias women, especially in Siofabanua Village, always maintain the Nias traditional culture of Maena Dance, maintain the original cultural tradition of Nias Maena Dance.en_US
