dc.description.abstractThe sepat ralis fish (Trichogaster lailus) is a peciformes fish with a distribution in the southern Asia region such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The sepat ralis fish has introduced to Indonesia in 1934. This study has been conducted to analyze the characteristics of the ideogram and karyotype of the sepat ralis fish, which is spread across Indonesia. The study has been conducted using a descriptive method. This sampels used were sepat ralis fish originating from two different places, Medan and Depok, then acclimatized for 7 days in the Genetics and Molecular Biology laboratory. Soaking with 0.007% colchicine for 11 hours to obtain the metaphase cycle on the chromosomes. Chromosome preparations were prepared using solid tissue techniques using gills, stained with 5% giemsa and observed by using amscope. Karyotype analysis was performed using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and IdeoKar 1.3 software to identify chromosome pairig based on their shape and size. The results showed the Trichogaster lailus originating from Medan and Depok had a diploid number of chromosomes (2n = 44) and no differences in chromosomes shape were found, but there were differences in chromosomes size. Trichogaster lailus from Medan has the largest chromosome of 6.03µm, the largest chromosome r-value of 1µm, the percentage of relative length of 8.89%, the HCL value (Total length of complementary chromosomes) is 67.87, TF% (Percentage of total shape)of 32.18%, Ask% (Karyotype asymmetry index) of 67.82%, and XcI (Average centromere index) of 0.27. Meanwhile, the Trichogaster lailus from Depok has the largest chromosome of 5.82 µm, the largest chromosome r-value of 1µm, the percentage of relative length of 8.62%, the HCL value (Total length of complementary chromosomes) is 67.57, TF% (Percentage of total shape) is 33.68%, Ask% (Karyotype asymmetry index )is 66.32%, and XcI (Average centromere index) is 0.27. The chromosome shape of both is 13 pairs of metacentric and 9 pairs of telocentric. Overall, the data obtained from this study were normal and there were no abnormalities in the number of chromosomes obtained.en_US
