Jenis-Jenis Piperaceae di Kebun Raya Sipirok Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan Sumatera Utara
Species of Piperaceae in Sipirok Botanical Garden, Tapanuli Selatan Regency North Sumatera
Abstract
Piperaceae is a group of flowering plants that have aromatical characteristics usually use as medicinal plants and ornamental plants. The Sipirok Botanical Garden area has a topographic and ecological conditions that support the growth of Piperaceae, however, it is not known yet the number of the Piperaceae types and the morphological characteristics of the Piperaceae found in the Sipirok Botanical Garden area. In this study, inventory activities were carried out using the exploration method, which were exploring or trace along observation paths at the each block location in the Sipirok Botanical Garden Area, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The research was carried out from January to June 2025. The results of the study obtain 14 species of Piperaceae which all of them included from 1 clan, called Piper. The type of Piperaceae found at the research site contain of 13 species with majority have vine behavior and one species has an upright stature. Piperaceae found in the Sipirok Botanical Garden occupyvarious habitats that vary from the edge of the forest with full sunlight area to the shaded area cover by tree crowns.
