Binjai City, as cited from the Central Statistics Agency of Binjai City, is a developing urban area with a predominantly young population. This demographic structure presents significant potential for enhancing environmental quality, one aspect of which is through the development of the City Public Library. Established in 2007, Binjai has provided a public library, however, due to space limitations, the facility was relocated to a larger site. Despite this, the move did not fully address existing challenges and, instead, introduced new issues, such as accessibility concerns. The current library remains suboptimal, failing to meet standard requirements in terms of facilities and infrastructure. Its limited appeal and inadequate amenities have resulted in low visitor engagement. To increase interest, a comprehensive strategy is required not only through facility improvements but by transforming the library into a community hub. This need is further emphasized by the limited availability of public spaces in Binjai. Therefore, redesign of the public library is necessary. Relocating it to a more accessible and well known area with enhanced functional facilities will help attract a broader audience. The proposed design adopts a contemporary architectural approach, reflecting the city's evolving character and urban dynamics. Positioned at the heart of the city, the library will serve as a place that embodies Binjai’s progressive nature while addressing current societal needs. Ultimately, the Public Library is envisioned as a vital public infrastructure, not only benefits the locals, but also contributes to the city's cultural and developmental growth, reinforcing Binjai’s unique identity.en_US
