This final project report titled
“Ecological Architecture
Approach in Banomo Resort Design in Muara Indah Suspension
Bridge, Nias Island” explores the integration of ecological
architecture principles in the design of a resort in Muara Indah,
Gunung Sitoli, Nias Island. The objective of the research is to design
a resort that not only meets the functional needs of tourists but also
maintains the ecological integrity of the surrounding environment,
particularly the mangrove forests and coastal areas. The study
adopts a qualitative, exploratory approach, utilizing data from field
observations, interviews, and secondary sources.
The research focuses on developing a space and activity
program for the resort that enhances tourism potential while
minimizing negative environmental impacts. By applying ecological
architecture strategies such as energy-efficient building systems, the
use of local materials, and the preservation of natural landscapes,
the Banomo Resort aims to provide a sustainable model for tourism
development on Nias Island. The design incorporates elements such
as water-based activities, eco-tourism, and recreational facilities that
are harmoniously integrated with the natural surroundings, ensuring a balanced interaction between human activities and the
environment.
The findings highlight the importance of an ecological approach
in resort design, emphasizing the role of architecture in promoting
sustainability and enhancing the tourism experience. This research
contributes to the development of responsible and eco-friendly
tourism solutions in areas with rich natural resources, offering a case
study for future resort.
