Designing Savana Apartment and Hotel in Deli Serdang with Biophilic Architecture Approach

Abstract

The need for environmentally friendly housing is increasingly pressing amidst the rapid population growth in Deli Serdang. This has resulted in a continued increase in demand for housing and has impacted developers' tendency to build housing on a large scale. Large-scale housing development has resulted in the availability of land for settlements decreasing and becoming limited, so there is a need for a shift from landed houses to vertical housing to address this land limitation. This research aims to design an apartment with a biophilic architectural approach that integrates natural elements into the spatial design to improve the quality of life of residents while supporting environmental sustainability. The report also includes case studies of similar projects that have successfully implemented biophilic themes, such as Bosco Verticale in Milan and Parkroyal on Pickering in Singapore, to understand the implementation of biophilic principles in an urban context. With a comprehensive approach, Green Nest Apartment is expected to become a model of sustainable housing that prioritizes balance between human needs and environmental conservation in a rapidly developing urban area.
