D BAIHAQI SINAGA. Effect of rumen degradable protein (RDP) and readily available carbohydrate (RAC) balance in rations on dry matter and organic matter digestibility in male indigenous sheep. (Supervised by YUNILAS and MA'RUF TAFSIN). This study focuses on the importance of providing rumen-degradable protein (RDP) and rumen-available carbohydrate (RAC) in the right proportions for ruminants. The recommended RDP requirement for ruminants is 60.5% of crude protein, while the RAC requirement is 10-15% of total material. However, data on the content of RDP and RAC in tropical countries such as Indonesia are still limited, and their utilisation in ruminant rations has not been widely studied. Based on this, the researchers conducted an experiment with local male sheep to investigate the effects of different RDP/RAC balances on dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. The study used a completely randomised design with three treatments and four replications with RDP/RAC balance R1=2.33, R2=1.70, R3=1.50. The results showed that the ratio of RDP and RAC significantly affected the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. Specifically, smaller RDP and RAC ratios resulted in higher digestibility, with treatment R3 (RDP/RAC ratio of 1.50) showing the best results, with dry matter digestibility of 79.98% and organic matter digestibility of 81.25%. Overall, this study optimize s the importance of considering the balance between RDP and RAC in ruminant diets to optimize digestibility.en_US
