This study aims to examine the role of family and peers in the process of conformity to a hedonistic lifestyle among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU). A hedonistic lifestyle is characterized by an individual’s tendency to seek pleasure, comfort, and instant gratification, often associated with excessive consumption and consumerist behavior. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with several FISIP USU students who exhibit tendencies toward a hedonistic lifestyle. The findings show that the family influences behavior through parenting styles, values instilled from an early age, and economic conditions. Meanwhile, peers play a significant role in shaping behavior and lifestyle choices through social pressure, the desire to be accepted in a group, and imitation of group behavior. Conformity to a hedonistic lifestyle occurs as a result of intense interactions between individuals and their immediate social environment. This study concludes that both family and peers play important roles in shaping students’ consumerist behavior patterns, particularly those leaning toward a hedonistic lifestyle.en_US
