| dc.description.abstract | Tourism plays an important role in driving economic, social, and cultural growth, including in Toba Regency, which has rich natural resources and Batak Toba cultural heritage. One of the emerging destinations is Puncak Sibodiala, offering stunning natural panoramas and significant potential for community-based tourism development. This study aims to examine the role of the local community in managing Puncak Sibodiala tourism destination and its impact on tourism sustainability. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis was conducted thematically by reducing data, presenting it in narrative form, and drawing conclusions based on identified patterns. The findings show that the local community actively contributes by maintaining environmental cleanliness, developing creative economic enterprises, providing visitor services, ensuring safety and comfort, and promoting the destination through social media. Their involvement has generated positive impacts on environmental, social, and economic sustainability. However, challenges remain, such as limited training, inadequate facilities, and the absence of an integrated management system. Therefore, stronger support from local authorities and stakeholders is needed to enhance community capacity and develop Puncak Sibodiala as a leading community-based tourism destination.
