This study aims to assess carbon storage potential, analyze estimates of soil carbon and biomass stocks, and examine the relationship between soil carbon and biomass carbon in Avicennia marina mangroves in Pulau Sembilan Village, Langkat Regency. This study uses a Randomized Group Design with 2 treatment factors and 3 replications, namely 4 methods of soil carbon calculation (IPCC 2003, SNI 2019, Poeplau et al. 2017, Fenton et al. 2024) and 4 methods of biomass carbon calculation (Komiyama 2008, INCAS, Chave et al. 2005, Dharmawan and Siregar 2008). Sampling was conducted on 16 transect plots measuring 10m x 10m using purposive sampling techniques on 10-15-year-old Avicennia marina plants, including tree diameter measurements and soil sampling at depths of 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm. The results showed that 10-15-year-old Avicennia marina mangroves have potential for carbon storage. Estimates of Avicennia marina mangrove carbon stocks showed differences in results with the SD treatment, which was 33.13±11.08 tons/ha, closest to the control treatment, which was 28.10±6.80 with a relatively smaller standard deviation. There was a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.498) between soil carbon stocks and biomass, indicating that an increase in soil carbon stocks was followed by an increase in biomass carbon stocks. This study underscores the importance of selecting appropriate and representative estimation methods to obtain accurate carbon stock data, which is crucial for mangrove conservation efforts and mitigation strategiesen_US
